Self-reflection
.
I’ve tried several times to use this mirror in my work and this is the first one I really like.
I was back and forth between keeping the eye visible or obscured. The obscured outward vision speaks more to inward looking. Or I suppose it could also be the avoidance of looking at what is in front of you. But the internalized mirrors from the background image lean in to some kind of internalized viewing. That’s my initial take anyway.

Also, the eye gaze in this portrait is so powerful. Hence my back and forth about whether to show or obscure. But maybe our power does not always need to be on display for everyone. Sometimes we stand in that power without anyone observing.
