I was drawn to her hair in this image. It’s not in focus. There are a lot of other distracting elements. But I wanted to see what I could do with it.

I let the lines in the balcony and on the horizon line guide the composition. I added in one of my newest paint textures, again, paying attention to the lines.

Piecing Together Thoughts
“I love the juxtaposition in your work. You put things together that are a little uncomfortable.” -said in conversation today with the kind of friend that is so intentional about helping others feel seen.
“I feel that somehow you want to break the clarity of the form.” -said in a review of my work that made me feel seen.

Or, at the very least, a shared belief that
filling everyday monotony with whimsy
is our only chance at

I’m so thankful for all of these pieces. Pieces I get to create and pieces offered that reflect back what my work is like. Which is another way of saying what my heart is like. Sometimes I wonder how we would even get to know if it weren’t for the kindness of others.
