Free 52 Personal Project – October

The Free 52 Project is a personal project that I am thrilled to be a part of! Each month we share our freelensed work.  Freelensing is a technique that manipulates the focal plane by photographing with the lens detached from the camera body and subtly adjusting/tilting the lens while detached. This month, the next artist is Renee.

This month I have been working hard editing my last three weddings of the 2018 season. Over the past year, I have been increasingly including freelensed images in my work … including weddings. I think these artful images are a beautiful way to capture the feelings in a wedding. Everything that day seems like a beautiful blur, that turns into magical memories. Nothing represents this to me more than freelensed images! I even had the opportunity this year while second shooting a wedding to photograph almost exclusively freelensed images (thank you Dory, you rock!). There are always some moments that don’t get freelensed, such as the first kiss and the bride walking down the aisle, because you only get one shot and there often isn’t time to do both. But having the opportunity to freelens these moments too was magic! I would LOVE to be able to do that again for a couple! So if anyone is interested …

Here is a sampling from my fall weddings.
